Motopony picks Las Vegas to shoot their King of Diamonds video

The queen of diamonds suite played host to the band Motopony while the pool played host to a video shoot.

The stage was set for a video shoot on the side of the pool last April and today in the mail I got the final result. The last edit of the King of diamonds video was complete and I watched as a man i our swimming pool appeared on the video (00:50sec). Not bad endorsement for our beautiful pool that out of the hundreds of pools here the men of Motopony chose ours. The pools cameo is short and the sign across the street got a guest spot as well. the fact is that Motopony is a rising star surely destined for fame and fortune and we are just glad to get an opportunity to play host to the building of that awesomeness. One of their latest songs made it’s television debut last Sunday on the new HBO series “Making it in America”.

Las Vegas Motel living part 1

Fly like an eagle or Head out on the highway?

So you booked your Las Vegas bargain motel and that left you the extra cash for more fun, that’s great but first you will have to travel to get there. Well first you have to pack but how you are traveling has a big effect on what you pack. By air is far more restrictive then anything else, while driving you are really limited only by your trunk space and the willpower to leave behind your entertainment center.

Lets cover the plane first since I am still not sure how you fit that entertainment center in your Prius. First off you will want to arrive at the airport two hours before your departure time, this is just good policy missing your flight can ruin your vacation. The TSA has a rather large list of carry on items which are not allowed. Most of them are however permitted as checked luggage with the proper forms and precautions.

A simple version of what is prohibited :
# Sharp Objects
# Sporting Goods
# Guns & Firearms
# Tools
# Martial Arts & Self Defense Items
# Explosive & Flammable Materials, Disabling Chemicals & Other Dangerous Items

That last category includes any aerosols and many hygiene products. Hairsprays, colognes, basically almost anything that could possibly ever even once burn. The best way to go is to check anything that might get refused. The more detailed version of the list is available at the TSA website.

TSA RESTRICTED ITEMS  LIST

Outside of what not to bring to the airport the only thing you need to concern yourself with is your identification. Contrary to popular belief it is in fact possible to fly without ID you would however, be subjected to a much more rigorous security check and should probably call ahead and arrive 4-6 hours in advance. You however may not be able to do much when you land without ID. Checking into any Las Vegas Motel or Hotel without photo ID is just not in the cards, or the dice for that matter. So even though you may want to prove your friends wrong by flying without an ID it’s best just to let the poor souls who lost their ID have the extra fun of fingerprinting or extra-invasive searches. You on the other hand should make sure you have a current photo ID and that the name on your ID matches the name on your ticket (middle name too).

Remember Las Vegas is a desert which means we have roughly two and a half seasons here: Summer, Winter and a few weeks of not sure if we are summer or winter. Summer=HOT. Like 98f (36c) at midnight during the heart of . Not even the best AC in the grandest hotel accommodations can follow you outside so bring clothing you can stay cool in. Winter in Las Vegas can be bitter and windy and much colder then you expect, if you are here in the cold months bring a good coat. Spring/Fall is our half season, because it tends to be either half a summer tacked on or an early/late winter. Like so much else in vegas mother nature likes to gamble on her spring/fall. They run the gamut from pleasant sunny to raining and windy.

So you have packed your bag and are headed for the airport. I suppose we should talk about what to pack in a car trip. In a simple answer pretty much anything that fits and you want to bring… is that a waterbed? How did you? No wait, I don’t want to know.

My next post we will go over choosing your lodgings, getting checked in and which Las Vegas bargain motel will give you the most for your money.

Las Vegas accommodations with a splash!

Winter is gone and Spring has sprung. For the Las Vegas motel tenant, this often means retreating into their room and turning the air to high.

Motels are often lacking in the amenities that you would find on the Las Vegas strip, keeping their costs down by offering the barest of essentials. And not just one or two; this goes for most of the Vegas motels. Desert Hills Motel always strives to be the exception to the rule, offering the little extra that other motels and hotels won’t, or in this case, can’t give their customers.

As the summer heats up, you can cool off in our full size swimming pool! We’re eagerly approaching the pool’s grand opening: May 27th. Just in time for a remarkable Memorial Day weekend. Desert Hills Motel is one of the only Las Vegas motels to have a spacious pool for your summer fun.

Once you’ve cooled off with your swim, let the on-site barbecue facilities make your holiday weekend perfect. If you choose to end your evening relaxing in your well-appointed room, you’ll have 40 DirecTV channels and free wi-fi internet for your entertainment. Or indulge your adventurous side, and visit the famous Freemont Street Experience and the Las Vegas strip, with all their neon and glitter and fun, mere minutes away.

All the best of Las Vegas is just outside your door when you stay at the Desert Hills Motel.
